It´s amazing how she actually lives off of these stunts.

What I find even more worrying are the people who actually watch this kind of garbage.
The quality of Peruvian produced TV is, on the whole abysmal.

Well.. strictly speaking, this piece was produced by a network in the USA; she just pulled off a freebie-ride cameo. I think most Peruvians who saw it cringed and felt a little "verguenza ajena".

You are right though: it is pretty easy to criticize TV in Peru, but I bet the quality is close to most other developing countries. I remember watching news once from Central America and thinking.. my god.. Peruvian news production ain´t so bad after all. (What sticks in my mind were the close-ups of someone who had been murdered with a machete! Incredibly graphic.)

But, to look at the up-side, at least there is a lot of local production and not just the import of foreign content - though most of the shows that have the highest ratings today (music and game realities) are a mix of "foreign concept + local production". Over time, production and content will get better as the industry matures and viewers become more discerning. There will be an industry that helps protect a Peruvian identity and may even bring in foreign earnings.

Some Peruvian shows that I thought were pretty cool and creative have been "Pataclaun" and "Pruebas de Sonidos" with Lucho Quequesana: i can´t think of anything like them internationally. There are probably lots of other hidden treasures that we don´t even know about... but it is a pretty good bet that Susy doesn't star in any of them :)

So..any thoughts on the following

1) What are the best Peruvian shows you have seen?
2) The worst?
3) How does local production here compare to local production in other developing countries?

If you want to insert video, use the youtube button above and insert the URL between the : [youtube] and : [youtube] .... BUT... change the https: to http:

Cheers!

Yes a lot of Peruvian tv is junk (the "realities" (Esto es Guerra, Combate), Magaly, etc.) but there are some good shows as well.

I like this travel series:

The talent shows like "La Voz Peru" are also fun to watch (a lot of talented singers on that show)

I also like this show:

"Al Sexto Dia" can be interesting sometimes:

This show about Piura is also fun to watch sometimes.
