Other options?

Postby woodchuck » Mon Apr 30, 2018 8:14 am

A poster recently commented on Huanta, Ayacucho as a place to live.
I agree there are not a lot of amenities in this town of some 37,000.
Does anyone have any other suggestions as I love the:

* Cooler weather
* Minimal traffic & congestion
* Lots of green areas
What I will miss is there are very few expats living there.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Is it possible to "walk" the streets using Google© maps?

Have you looked into Huaraz? Has expats, great surroundings, it's a small-to-medium size city, Been planning to visit for ages, but haven't gotten round to it yet.

Yes, we have considered Huaraz; also Huancayo maybe even Huanuco.
We search OLX & there are more options for homes than Huaral plus the prices seem more competitive.
It is important for me at almost 68 to have an airport close by for health emergencies.
Thanks for your help.
PS - how can you find out who the expats are; any specific website or other means?
PSS - I have never walked the streets using Google maps; maybe give it a try soon.

Quasi-off topic but any reason these places all start with the letter H?
It can be very confusing.

WoodChuck,

You search is focus on cities but it is synonymous of noise, traffic, etc. and also business opportunities and commerce

You might try to focus your search on towns not cities

Instead of Huancayo, I would look for Concepcion https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VeqlKRFqhT0

P.S. some few towns are also focus on business, so they are noisy and crowded as well

We had a bad experience with Concepcion some 6 months ago.
We saw a home advertised on OLX & contacted her to see the home; she was to meet us & take us there.
We waited over 1 hour & this older woman never showed up or bothered to call us.
We finally called her (not wanting to appear harassing); she said she was going to the hair salon & we had to reschedule! This person obviously didn't respect our interest in the home or our time wasted.
Our flight was scheduled for early the following morning which we explained to her.
Apparently, her hair appointment was more important as we never got to see the home.
PS - the home is still for sale!
