Crime in Tarapoto in the Jungle

Postby windy.o'bar » Sat Aug 10, 2019 4:02 pm

In Tarapoto, there have been a couple brazen crimes recently. The Megaestacion discoteca was subjected to armed robbery.

Also someone was followed into a restaurant after withdrawing money from the bank. After leaving the bank, the young man realized he was being followed, and looked for refuge in a crowded restaurant, but the assailants followed him into the restaurant and robbed him at gunpoint.

Nowadays it seems like I’m hearing about more and more crime than ever in the jungle.

There might be an uptick in crime, or not. I think a contributing factor to our perception of the incidence of criminality is the fact that nearly everything gets recorded on smartphones now and replicated on social networks, and picked up by news stations too cheap to actually go out and do real journalism.
