Hello
I just read a blog about obtaining a driver's license in Peru ... in the blog I found a reference indicating that:
If you have a Foreign License exemption, you’ll need your current international driver’s license and your current license from your
home country, plus the document from the issuing office – and photocopies of each.[/i]
[/i][/b]

Does anyone know how to actually get the "document from the issuing office" ?? In my case my US diver's license is from Georgia.

THKS!!

How can a person qualify for a "foreign license exemption"?
I have been told the Peruvian driver's test is mostly about history questions & very little about actual driving skills. My Spanish is not good, so I would probably have trouble understanding the questions.

I really don't see the point in going for a driver's licence here...no-one drives like they have one, or knowledge of road rules....it's Raferty's Rules in Lima....go where you like when you like, and bugger everyone else !! I have been driving cars for more than 50 years, and could not even dream of driving here.

With the off-topic posts, my genuine post has gotten lost:

They have an English language version of the test, which is not really about history, but about laws. There is a simulation on line (in Spanish), but your wife can give you a sense of what is being asked: https://sierdgtt.mtc.gob.pe/

Good luck!

Thanks, Alan for your help.
This is what makes - EXPATPERU - such a valuable resource.
I wonder what is the difference with all the various driver options at the end of the simulator explanation page?
Thanks again Alan & Happy New Year 2020 to you & yours.

Those are the different categories of license, for the different kinds of vehicles and services.. for example, truck drivers, or bus drivers, or taxi drivers.

The documentation I've read online (thanks for the links) say I need a DNI to obtain my Peruvian license.
What about with my Carnet de Extranjeria? Will it be accepted as well? Thanks!

Nope. Doesn't look like it. The next closest one appears to be in Trujillo, which would be around 7 hours away from you.

Hopefully they will offer services in the Cono Norte at some point.

Good luck.
