cringeworthy Peruvian names

Postby randomperson » Wed Oct 22, 2014 2:49 pm

I get that these are phonetic adaptations of western names and that most come from the police blotters:

Kinverly, Yeremi, Brayam, Leidy

I understand that during a time, in Brazil, men were named after American products, especially appliances, like Westinghouse, Kenmore, Oster.....

'We're going round to the Kenmore Oster Westinghouse's for dinner tonight. The Durex Dodge 18 Wheelers will be there too.'
Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others.

Working with large employment populations in the provinces you see quite a lot.
I must report: Lady Mosquito (first and last name); Pretty Lesly; Mayco Maycoll: José Mamerto; Clitoriano; Eisenhower; Hitler; Jackson; Celestino.... the most inappropriate one though seems to be the quite common: Fanny. WTH?!

Clitoriano? Assuming that 'o' signifies they're masculine, that's a tough name for a guy to go through life with.

Put those two names into the same sentence, and that's about as cringeworthy as it gets.

Ollanta was the name of an Inca warrior, the commander of the Inca army.

The italian name Andrea in our countries is used only for women so If You are an italian male in Latin america and Your name is Andrea imagine how You will be treated.
The same with Michel for french men and Joan for catalonyan men.

We peruvian use to have fun with some japanese fake names.
Like
Tesale tu moko.
Tumoto ta rota.
Tesura tu po..
or
how you call wedding ring in arab.
Alhaja pa la gila.
How You call moustache in arab.
Alfombra pa los mocos.

Sorry for the off topic.

Many years ago in the selva they used to name their kids using the names of tobacco brands.
Winston, marlboro, Pal Mall , Benson Hedge, etc.
