You might be better off starting your own small business.

Good paying jobs in Lima are scarce and you have to be well connected to even get a chance.

Try Dream Reach Virtuals at http://drvirtuals.com/ headquartered in Miami. They offer remote employment in sales and customer service yet they require at least 10MB of internet speed, a USB headset, and 1GB of upload speed. The schedule is 40 hours weekly and PayPal is used for salary remuneration.

Also try Craigslist Peru, Learn4Good, and Peru This Week websites. When searching CompuTrabajo Peru in the search field try English as the byword. I've seen IT employment for fluid English speakers.

Cronyism, nepotism is endemic in the Peruvian work culture, and beware of industrial psychopaths because there are more here than in G8 work cultures.

Here's a caveat about living in Peru: never tell a Peruvian about your personal life because they're scurrilous and they consider networking as friendship. They're just hedging for their next reference. Peruvians are ruthlessly ambitious and are ultra-conformists, they're just 19th century opportunists.

Lastly, they think sniding is constructive criticism. They're myopic and their only knowledge of multi-culturalism is solely mercantile and is neither sociological nor psychological. They're more xenophobic than the far-right of G8 countries.

Wow, thanks for all those $10 dollar words SoCal21. Are you here in Peru and if so, why? hmmm...never mind save those $10 dollar words I don't want to know. However, I would suggest, if you are here in Peru and plan on staying, you study a bit of Recent Peruvian history going back to the late 60s, certainly the 80's and the last 15 years. Lets try to gain some knowledge as to why these people operate the way they do. Perhaps a bit more understanding may provide us with a better way of working with them rather than around them. There is a Principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments and which can not fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance - that Principle is Contempt prior to Investigation. Sorry, I only know $2 dollar words.

What I have learned here in Lima is that people find jobs because of networks either of friends that are in a company and spread the word or as they say here, " Tengo un pata o te voy a pasar el cv de un conocido". Fortunately,in the US people are hired based on their resume, skills and job interview.

Here's a thought. Try the U.S.

Not trying to be an a$$ but why do people leave their countries (in your case the U.S.) and expect things to be the same in Peru?
You were behind the eight ball the minute you got off the plane.

And with Trump Prez, jobs are and will be flocking back to America.

Sad to say but yeah it's all about connections. If you are not skilled then you are going to really struggle and if you are skilled well with the economic slow down in work like natural resources, why hire a gringo who costs more when you can just hire a local.

If you have no real skills you'd be just a lot better off staying in your own country. I'm managing to make more money in 3 or 4 days work than what most of the jobs i've seen advertised would pay in a month just by doing pizza deliveries while home visiting. It's not meant in a bad way when people say "maybe look at returning home if you are struggling." Peru is a very difficult place. If you want to return to Peru then save up some cash and think of a good business to start as making the money thru a paid wage is hard.
