Good Psychiatrists or Psychologists in Lima?

Postby chiaramila » Tue Jan 12, 2010 8:23 pm

Hello,
I am looking for psychologists or psychiatrists trained in cognitive-behavioural therapy for a friend. He has tried some local Peruvian psychologists but many of them don´t even have thir PHD´s and it hasn´t worked out.

Does anyone know of any PROFESSIONAL and GOOD psychologists or psychiatrists and could recommend them? Possibly expat ones?

It would be very much appreciated!

Thanks

I second that. Dr. Bill is from San Francisco and stated to have had it living there and needs a change "STAT"
and would love to know how to make a living in Peru.
Well Dr.Bill here is your first patient. It would be quite simple with your qualifications and expertise.
You would not find it difficult to secure employment in Lima. they are in need of your services, rest assure.
Start an "AA" group, "NA" group. there are a lot of people waiting.Divorce,Adultery,Depression among others
I know a lady friend very dear to me, a "Psychologist" working in Lima and she is overwhelmed with patients.
Dr.Bill you want to enjoy life too.remember.

Hi,

Just a couple of points I think should be cleared up...

In Peru, you need not hold a Doctorate degree (PhD's per se don't exist here) to be a licensed Professional.
There are many great Professionals who do not hold a Doctorate for a very simple reason. In health (psychology, psychiatry, etc) it is more important to have a specialisation than a degree in investigation (which is really what a Doctorate is, in the end). So, many Psychologists and Psychiatrists (as other medical doctors) decide to go to institutes of specialisation.

That said, I recommend that, if you are seeking a cognitive-behavioural specialist, you call ITRE (Instituto de Terapia Racional Emotiva) 447-4386.

If the problem is substance abuse related, Edgar Rodriguez (who does hold a Doctorate) is specialised in said; he runs IPSICOC (Insituto de Psicología Cognitiva Conductual) 470-5498. He also works with other sorts of disorders.

If your friend is open to other sorts of therapy, I would highly recommend the CPPL (Centro de Psicoterapia Psicoanalítica) http://www.cppl.org/hojas/contactenos.php.

Remember that finding an Expat LICENSED (in Peru) mental health professional is going to be quite difficult. But all these recommendations are top notch.

PM me if you have any questions or would like further recommendations. I am a psychologist, but do not do clinical work at the moment, but can help orient you.

Ta,
Antonella

People often ask me for a referral to a psychologist that is fluent in English.
Until late last year, I could do this; but this woman decided to move to Madrid to further her education.
Does anyone know of any professionals in these field who understand English?
Best wishes & thanks.

I am also following this forum and am interested in referrals for a fluent English speaking psychiatrist, preferable a female but English is more important. If you have any information that would be wonderful.

Thanks!

Hello,

I am a bilingual German-Spanish Psychotherapist, living in Lima since a few months. My English is also fluent. My consultory is in Surco, close to Ovalo Higuereta.

I would be more than happy to provide anybody who is interested more detailed information. You can also visit my website www.mnitschack.de

I eager recommend the people who wants therapy while a method is scientific is better. Right now the RBT and TREC or cognitive behavior therapy is the most efficient way to reach any goals anyone look for.so gestalt and psychoanalyst and more humanist not so good but some of then could have a method efficient but not all.Even I am not a tittle still psychologist (I am student) but in formation on institute cognitive therapy Peru and Ellis institute NYC (TREC).
I know many American or foreigner believes that to have a doctoral is better in Peru but this is unnecessary and there are good professionals in Peru as above someone gave a institute. I hope in the future I can put my knowledge in service of many foreigner because i am understand everyone and because also I was a foreigner( and maybe I will be sometimes) greeting everyone and my best wishes that everyone find all they look for.
