Brookfield to buy majority stake in GSP project

During a televised interviewed in late December2016, Finance Minister Alfredo Thorne announced that Canadian company Brookfield were in the final stages of buying a majority share in Peru’s $5 billion Gasoducto Sur Peruano project from Brazilian conglomerate Odebrecht SA.

Thorne said the deal between the two companies and the Peruvian government was agreed last Friday, and that it is expected to be closed before the end of 2016.

Once completed, the pipeline will transport natural gas from Southern Peru to the coast, where it will fuel power stations and a future petrochemical complex.
