Peruvian Food

Peru´s unique geography, mix of races and cultures, and fusion of acient and modern gastronomies give the country one of the world´s most diverse cusines. It has been noted in the book Ampay! Peru that Peru has 491 tradicional dishes - which puts it on a par with the best Chinese, Italian and Indian cuisines. After 7 years of this magnificent discovery, the play "CAO(s) - Visiones de la Dama de Moche" is a tribute to the Lady of Cao and it tells the story behind her existence, the one that is revealed by her three guardians.

The District of Callao

This time Expat Peru is taking a peek into the District of Callao. While not actually a district of Lima (we'll get more into that!), Callao is considered Lima's port city. The district covers an area of 17.6 square miles and has a population of almost 390,000 according to the 2005 cesus. The district of Callao and its relationship with Lima can be confusing. Much like Lima, there is a department, a province, distrct and city of Callao - when people talk about Callao, they are usually talking about the city and district. Many people believe that Callao is actually a part of Lima, buy while it is considered part of the Lima Metropolitan area (also known as a conurbation), it is not a part of Lima proper. To read the complete article, click here.
