Tours of Lima
Lima is a large and confusing city, and there’s so much to do and see. For those who are just visiting for a short while, an organized tour is a great way to see and learn more of the city than you could on your own. For people moving here, taking a tour of the city can be a fun way to learn your way around.
One of the most reputable tour sites is Lima Tours. Their city tour packages include trips to various Lima museums and to the archeological site Pachacamac. Some of their more popular tours include a half day tour of the city center, and a ‘culinary tour’ of markets and restaurants. They are the only tour provider allowed access to the historic Casa Aliaga.
Bike Tours of Lima offers a fun, healthy and green alternative to touring Lima. With bicycle and helmet supplied, their routes cover some of the most traditional parts of the city, including a bay tour of Miraflores/Barranco and a tour of the Historic City Center.
Another popular city tour group is MiraBus. With their unmistakable red double-decker buses, Mirabus hosts tourists and locals alike on trips around Miraflores, Barranco, and the Center of Lima. Their ‘Lima de Noche’ (Lima by Night) tour, which includes a stop at the “Magic Water Circuit” in the Parque de la Reserva, has been recommended highly in our forums.
Another fun bus tour is El Bus Parrandero. Recommended for those who want more than just a tour, this bus ride is also a fun night out on the town, with a live band, mixed drinks, beer and a stop for food. A great way to meet other travelers and locals alike, and see some of Lima’s most important sites, all in a fun, party atmosphere.
The Municipality of Lima frequently offers short walking tours of downtown. You can call 01/427-4848 or 01/427-6080, ext. 222 for a schedule.
