Re: Help to obtain a birth certificate in Peru

Fanning is right. You need to ask somebody in Tarapoto to go to Reniec and get one for you. The reniec machines here have birth certificates only from Lima.

You can also try this website. They might help you to get one.

Maybe they could get rid of the Metric system. Make English the official language. Force private clinics to accept Medicare. Grant us access to the US Embassy commissary. We should be exempt from the tax on Jack Daniels. Convert the electric system to 110 Change the finish on concrete sidewalks to ...

American here! I will be arriving in Lima on September 1st from Los Estados Unidos. Let me know if you are interested in arranging a delivery. Hello from Lima, and Happy 4th of July! Thanks for the offer but I was hoping for an earlier arrival, .e.g., before the end of this month. I urgently need o...

Re: Anybody Coming to Peru from the US?

IMO, this should be a permanent forum item. Mailing from the US or from Peru is such a hassle & this is an extremely helpful expat service. I have transacted items/mail both ways & acquired good friendships for my time. But the requesting party needs to be aware - they are asking for a favo...

Re: Anybody Coming to Peru from the US?

Hi. I'm bumping this thread out of necessity. So is anybody coming to Peru from the US soon? I have a couple of electronics to buy from Amazon and one of them is 1.5kg, while the other is a light USB-type gadget. I am willing to pay for all the trouble. I could ship the items directly but apparently...

Re: Citizenship by Marriage -- it's all changed

Hooray! My DNI came through today no problem, all correct, despite the different place of birth. So I think the worst is over. I have to sort out passport, bank, SUNAT, RRPP, etc, but I'll only comment here if there was some unusual difficulty that needed to be overcome. Good luck to those still wo...

I can recommend one but in San Isidro. They have power yoga, ashtanga, vinyasa, iyengar, kundalini, hatha, etc, etc.

This is their website.

Maybe they can help you find one in Miraflores.

Since when did this site become infested by pricks?

I'm Peruvian and it's sad to see each and every single post by an expat being hijacked by another and turned into bitter arguments and grandstanding.

Every single day.

Without fail.

Where have all the good guys/gals gone? Tsk..tsk..

It is true. Right now not all taxis have the new number plates. Taxis have until may 2014 to change their plate numbers.

These are just tips when you get a taxi. It's up to you whether you follow all, some or none of them.

Re: Micro Routes

Few tips when you get a taxi on the street:
license plate (both front and back) should have a yellow strip on the upper part
plate numbers written on the sides of the car
red/white reflective strips along the sides of the car
taxi sign on top of the car
sit behind the driver's seat

You can also take a bus in Javier Prado (going to La Molina) and get off at Ovalo Monitor-Universidad de Lima.
Then walk just a few meters to Av. El Golf Los Incas and take a combi that goes to Av. La Encalada.

You can try gamarra. You can choose the fabric and they go to your place to install it. Just make sure to take all the measurements. Traduccion certificada doesn't need to be legalized by the embassy/ministerio, just get a certified copy from the Notario and take it to a translator. It is not a simple translation, it is a translation certified by Official Traductor.

It cost me 50 soles.

Re tsunamis, just stay away from La Punta/Callao area. Other disctricts like Miraflores, San Isidro, San Borja, etc. are safe in that sense.
