Whether you are planning to move to Peru, or you are already living here, the Expat Peru forum is a great place to meet people and to find information. Welcome to our community!
Thanks for the recommendation, but I have followed these recipes for years and I have not yet found one that results in the same bread. My largest problem is creating the hollow center. I believe that it is over proofed, but can't duplicate this characteristic. At some point, someone will provide t...
If you ere here for a while maybe they'd check you on INFOCORP, but if you haven't been here fir long then yes, you'd need to prove you have an income and not default on your payments, it makes perfect sense to ask for proof and would be irrespondible not to do it. To the previous posters... It may ...
Thanks for the help, folks. I dug a little further and it does seem that dollar accounts are quite feasible. Not sure why the employer thinks they need to pay me in soles in order to get the visa, but I guess that's a question for an immigration lawyer. Will track one down. Peruvian taxes seem to b...
If this is more than just an "example" - Congratulations! There's a bunch of threads here on the subject and on the homepage under the blue bar near the top of the page there's a section for Marriage under Legal Issues that will tell you what documents you need. Off the top of my head I r...
Hi Everyone, I'm looking to buy a guide of New York City, mainly looking for info on neighbourhoods, the subway system, map, etc. If you have one and want to sell or trade for books, please EMAIL me.
You really don't need to know the numbers to know where your child would have a better education. Just think how much you have to spend in Peru to get a mediocre one; and yes, I know the UK's education scores have gone down... But Peru is light years behind that even.

If you want to leave the country and have a carnet de extranjería you may have to get a certiifacte to present at Passport control when you leave the country. In the last two years I've flown back home (USA) 6 times and have never been asked for that although I've read the same thing you posted. Ju...
Hi, Do you have any sort of receipt, proof or anything that you did the Interpol thing? Maybe you can show them that and since you are only waiting to pick it up, then they can give you those extra days. Sorry to ask, but weren't you supposed to present the interpol records with your other documents?
How is leaving the country and re-entering "abuse?" Your exit and entry stamps are right there in your passport for any official to see. If they let you back in the country after looking at your stamps then Immigration obviously doesn't have a problem with you - where's the abuse? It is u...
I know someone who had done 1 border hop, in due time, left the country and came back and they did not want to let them in. They mentioned something about family and finally being able to start paperwork for residence and were given 3 months, but if they did not comply with the admittance days, and ...
HI James, We will be leaving the country and my husband must cancel his residency. I was looking at the Digemin site and they list the following as requirements: Formulario F-007 (gratuito) Recibo de pago del Banco de la Nación por derecho de trámite (S/. 20.80 nuevos soles) Carné de extranjería con...
Nikki, since they are sponsoring you they will need to submit documents and prepare a contract, it's not that you take care of "everything". About the law firm, my husband went in for a simple paper procedure (renewing his CE) and they quoted like $450 (USD); we thought they were insanely ...
Chris, my husband had the same addiction. He loved them with his afternoon coffee. He has gained serious weight, so one day he said "I won't eat them again"; and he hasn't. He has amazing will power though.
Working with large employment populations in the provinces you see quite a lot. I must report: Lady Mosquito (first and last name); Pretty Lesly; Mayco Maycoll: José Mamerto; Clitoriano; Eisenhower; Hitler; Jackson; Celestino.... the most inappropriate one though seems to be the quite common: Fanny...

My understading is that the permiso judicial is if the other parent is not in the country. If the other parent is in the country, and recognized as a citizen (so not in prison), then you have to do the regular permiso through a notaria. If he refuses, unfortunately he is in his right to, since you s...
Ahhhh Santiago.... If it weren't for the food and the pollution, it would be my ideal place to live. I agree Tom, it is a beautiful city, and much more modern than Lima; the mountain surroundings are amazing, and there aren't any disgusting shanty towns deteriorating the view. If you want a menu sty...
If he is not a permanent resident, he will need her to confirm they are still married; that may be the situation why he wants to change status, so he is not illegal during the divorce? I must agree with a previous poster, you never know what may happen with marriage, no matter where you marry, but ...

As much as I hate to admit, Chi Chi is right. It is not like jobs are raining from the sky for Peruvians, let alone for people who don't speak the language. Teaching may be your best bet. Yes, getting a job at a foreign call center is a possibility, but those don't happen very often and many times y...
I flew on Star once, and it smelled like one thousand llamas slept on the plane before we got on it. Never has that happened to me in any other airline.
Hmmm... given that Peru works on 240v, I'd be surprised you'd find one. However, you can have a look in the Centro Ferretero on Tomas Marsano. It''s on block 14.

In that case, I would expect ChiChi to bring up issues regarding Belgium (if he is indeed Belgian), not the UK... It's just his usual hunger for attention, and firing up the crowd.
All these places try to take advantage out you gringos. Even the bigger ones like Euroidiomas. I swear, I would have made a claim at the ministry of labor, but my husband told me he did not want to make a big fuss for the pennies he was getting from them.
I have a paypal account and it is tied to my Scotia account. Where did you get the idea paypal is not available? You can evan pay Bembos delivery with paypal.
It's not that simple, not all Banks take international checks. I processed a check from the US at Scotiabank, they charged me about $25, and it took 30 days to clear the funds into my account.
My parents found a rental which they stayed at for 3 weeks here https://www.airbnb.com.pe/ The woman who has the apartments is Karin, she has a few apartments in Miraflores, they are all furnished, and the price is about $50 - $70 per night. If you are looking to rent a longer term, unfurnished, aft...
Travelling by land only makes your trip dreadful. Unpaved roads, narrow curves and poorly maintained bridges make you even sicker. I know several people who when back to their localities or travelling by bus due to there not being airport access/money for airfare feel sick; and so the smell lingers ...
I'm pretty sure Peru doesn't let go of you even if you give up your citizenship; but not 100% sure; so that is a good start. If Peru considered your mother as a Peruvian, the only way for you to become a Resident would be if you were a single daughter and your mother lived in Peru. In order to claim...
My sister did this. BUt she is a Peruvian living abroad; so it might be slightly different. Best is to ask them exactly what they need you to provide. My sister provided statements from her 401k contributions and other documentation required (proof of resindecy in the US, letter from former employer...
In Calais in France, hundreds are trying to get on trucks and ferries bound for the UK. For New Years 2013 my husband and I took a coach trip to Paris (from Kent). There were two asian women along with all brits, and me. So when we were back at Calais to take the Eurotunnel back into the UK. We all...
You have to prove you have been making contributions for at least 36 months, pre or post your contributions in Peru. If you didn't make any contributions prior to you coming to Peru you have to contribute for 36 months abroad. At the moment, according to their rules, they will not give you that money.
Hi JV If you have no luck with finding someone to take Lola back to the states, you could try a pet shipper. They will help you int he best way possible. I have been in touch with Dr. Melisa Grisolle, she owns "Petwings" https://www.facebook.com/petwingsperu?fref=ts she has handled situati...
This states that if one of the parents is abroad, a judicial authorization must be requested. It also states the absent parent would need to send a consular power of attorney. However, if you read the very end, it says if both parents are in agreement, then you would have to do it through a notary. ...
Agridd, I bet if you have lived in the states or maybe England or most anywhere, you have questioned, "why do they do that? It is just crazy the way they do ______________." Maybe the OP was a little uppity, but maybe, like the can opener reasoning, he can find method in his/her perceptio...
