The point is following by Peru´s rules. They seem to pride themselves on making the foreigners (or citizens) jump through hoops. I´ve been living here for a year and I didn´t want any problems when I get to the airport. This way seemed to be "easy" and following their rules.

I just went through the process of cancelling my residency. Here´s what I had to do... 1) Take the following to the immigration building in Breña no more than 10 days before your departure: - a copy of formulario 007 - a carta de garantia from my spouse (Peruvian), notarized - a carta de viaje from ...

I´m in no way an expert, but here´s my thoughts... Once you get your carnet, based on a work contract, it is fair to say the company that got you the visa could certainly take it back. You´ll have to consult the company. If they don´t revoke it, then it´s good for about 4-5 years, each year you just...

Most airlines have an international extra baggage fee of $100 per bag. It is the most cost efficient way to get your things to the US immediately. They´ll put it on the same plane, if it´s not full, or the next plane out if your plane is full. We will be paying for about 3 extra bags this time, as m...

I was reading up on what one has to do to leave Peru, but I´m very confused! I know Peru has its weird rules when it comes to immigration, but why on earth does my husband need to file a letter (see below)? And why do I have to cancel my residence? Wouldn´t it just expire and disappear after a few m...
