I don't think Chi Chi (or whatever name he chooses to use) should be silenced. He is 'special'. I believe the problem is one of time. If you're coming to Peru then the must-see attraction is MP, so while your down south your going to take in that southern circuit - Nazca-Arequipa-Puno-Cuzo. Add a couple of days in Lima and that doesn't leave much time left if you've just got two or three weeks...

Speaking from experience, this is not the case. Anyone not crossing on an oficial crossing is at fault NOT the driver.

I can only talk from personal experience, but to me there has been no improvement in my neck of the woods. I drive the Pan American daily, and if anything, it's got worse. Whenever CC posts about Tarapoto I'm reminded of Sean Penn in 'Team America' and his Iraq - "chocolate rivers" speech....

There are a few here in Chiclayo.

All of those that I've encountered - selling their handicrafts, juggling or playing guitar in the local restuarants - have been Latinos or from Spain.

I've yet to meet a Ivy Leaguer slumming it....

About 12 - 14 kms. Depending on the time of day and traffic you could do it in 15 -20 mimutes from the main plaza.
The malecon is a little different from the photo - not seen the grass yet - but a 100% improvement on what went before. As long as they keep it clear, it's a nice stroll after lunch.

I recently flew via Madrid. Landed at terminal S and flew out from U. Everyone in transit was bussed from the plane to terminal U and the only checks were at the departure gate. The walls of our house are all plastered and painted white. Unfortunately, the local graffiti artists find them too great an invitation to ignore.
