Re: TMobile - roaming in Peru

Thanks very much Dave. I am worried about coverage here in WPB too but they offer a 14 day trial with no obligation (just a restocking fee). Seems unreal that there is such a plan for international roaming. Just a few years ago I paid near $100/mo. just in long distance charges to Peru. Times have c...

TMobile - roaming in Peru

Greetings from the US... If anyone has a TMobile service plan allowing for international data/text/calls, please report how the quality is in Lima or other cities. The newer phones come with wifi calling enabling a user to connect to wifi and use the phone just like he/she is home in the US. But I'd...

Re: tourist visa for Dominicans?

We emailed the Peruvian embassy in Santo Domingo and they advised that my friend will need a visa. Too bad.

Re: tourist visa for Dominicans?

Thanks for the reply. I think that link shows a chart of countries and visas regarding Peruvians who travel.

I'm looking to see if Dominicans need a visa to enter Peru.

tourist visa for Dominicans?

Hello All: Can anyone give me a final answer? I'm showing some websites that say residents and passport holders of the Dominican Republic need a visa to enter Peru for tourist reasons. And some websites say a visa is not needed for the normal 183 days. Maybe the conflicting information is due to a r...

Re: Panama.

Unfortunately your only options from Peru are Copa or Avianca/Taca. That being said, competition is low, and low fares are almost non-existant.

Re: practical safety tips and ideas only thread

Though never in Peru, I've been victim to robbery after being drugged and lead back to my own hotel. If I knew then what I know now, it would not have happened. Rule #1: Do not get drunk. One lets their guard down in this state. Do not accept drinks from someone unless you are right there in full vi...

Re: TACA Follows Lan - $178 Fee for Non-Residents

Although it's dispicable to charge the fee in the first place, at least a pop up warning alerts the web user about the fee, and that it is in English or Spanish, depending on what portal one has entered taca's site. I wrote to them via chat and the agent politely informed me it is government regulat...

Re: Lan's $178 fee for non residents

You're free to purchase the Base Plus fare on LAN but if I could offer my S/0.02, consider Star Peru. I flew them for the first time last month and was very pleased. My roundtrip to Trujillo was $116.00 USD and I was able to buy the ticket from the US on their website. There was 1 stop in Chiclayo o...

Avianca selling miles cheap!

If you have an AviancaPlus account and want to top off your balance to get to the reward level, you can buy miles 2x1 until 12/31/10. Prices are $30 per 1,000 miles but you get 2,000 miles total. Miles are credited to your account instantly. I tried it and it worked! One needs 30,000 miles for round...

Re: Aruba suspect sought for murder in Peru

I really hope the police and the fiscalia are not botching this up. They got a confession, yes, but I hope this was done according to the law and that he can't walk away from this. Meanwhile, news is reporting that he could face a maximum of 20 years for confessing. I wonder if there is a strategy t...

Re: Preferred Airline from States to Lima

Avianca is a very good airline with above par onboard service. All Airbus planes are new with individual TV entertainment at each seat. Their Boeings are older and feature a movie. Connections in Bogota are easy although there is a second security screening and pat downs from the police. This can ad...

Curious: If one renounces citizenship and becomes a citizen in a country where those citizens are subject to visa requirements to visit the US, does this ex-citizen also need a visa?

Greetings! I am a 34 yo gay man from US looking to share an apartment temporarily. I will still live in the US but return to Lima each month for 6-10 days mas/menos. I'm very laid back and respectful. I smoke outside and rarely drink alcohol. I would not have lot of visitors... just my other half an...
