Re: Fly to Lima with laptop, camera, and cash?

Same advice on the equipment ... I've only had green lights, so no issues.

Since you are coming from Toronto - there are Scotiabanks on every 2nd street corner in many parts of Peru (not in Iquitos, tho) and ATM charges were negligible when withdrawing from my Canadian Scotiabank accounts.

Re: Introduce Yourself!

I am at the moment having Spanish lessons at La Escuela el Sol in Miraflores. I would be nice to meet up with others in similar situations. Hi Wicksy! Welcome to you and your family. I'm about to spend a number of months there and wonder what you think of La Escuela el Sol for lessons? Part of my g...

Re: Cashing a US check

what about mailing it back to your US bank for deposit and withdrawing the cash through an ATM in Peru? And then use the cash to open a Peru bank account. Can you set up your cheques for future direct deposit so you don't have to go through this hassle again? FWIW, US banks tend NOT to cash foreign ...

Re: Planning on moving to Peru

My wife and I just came back from a vacation in Idaho (we live in Canada) where we could not believe how much cheaper things were there as opposed to where we live. Best of luck on your move! LOL Ron, everywhere is cheaper than greed-driven Calgary. I moved there from San Francisco and couldn't bel...

Re: Can I get this at a pharmacy?

Hi Naturegirl,

I'm not sure if you ever found one or not, but I'll be coming to Peru (from Canada) in January and could bring one for you.

Just send me the details and I'll pick it up for you. :)

Re: Can you just LIVE here?

Sorry for jumping in on this thread ... but all official information says that visitor visas are good for 90 days and now I am reading some anecdotal information that they are 183 days. Has the 90 day rule changed?

Thx,

Re: Introduce Yourself!

Hi there, I'm Lori. A seriously misplaced Canadian. :) I spent 3 weeks in Peru in the spring of 2009 and loved it! I am returning for 4 months in January '10. I would love to meet expats and learn as much about Peru as possible. I am seriously considering relocating there permanently. It's amazing p...
