Re: Rooms for rent with ADSL?

Thanks Craig and Tupacperu.

What are CE and DNI?

Honestly I have no idea. I am from Europe, not USA.

Rooms for rent with ADSL?

When I come to Peru I will probably stay in a hostel or hotel for a few days until I get used to the new country and find my way around Lima. Then I will probably rent a room. I really have to have a good internet connection because my job requires it. So I was wondering whether some of the rooms th...

Re: Cashing a US check

So Interbank can cash US checks. Would you say they will do it always? I would really have to be certain that at least one bank can do it on a regular basis because that would be my primary source of income.

By the way, my checks are considered to be company checks.

Cashing checks from USA in Peru

My main job involves working as a marketing affiliate webmaster for several internet companies which are based in USA (e.g. Google). These companies periodically send me their checks via ordinary mail, and I cash them in my bank here in Serbia. No problems with this strategy so far, and the bank's c...

Re: Low-cost air tickets?

So now that Aircomet doesn't exist anymore, which air companies remain in the cheapest category? Remember the flight I'm interested in is from Europe to Peru (not from USA).

KLM is not really the cheapest, but is my favourite at the moment.

Re: Low-cost air tickets?

Offcourse Aircomet isn't the fanciest airline, but the thread was about CHEAP airlines. I agree if you fly a lot all over the world, it is important that apart from being cheap, it is also comfortable. But if price does matter, and you don't bother flying with an airline that don't offer free food ...

Re: Low-cost air tickets?

I came to Peru in May. I took the KLM flight from Amsterdam to Lima. I booked a one-way ticket. I used my frequent flyer points to pay for the flight. Still had to pay 180 euros because taxes were not included. The flight took less than 11 hours. Clean aircraft, food was reasonable and drinks were ...

Re: Non-native English teacher in Peru

I don't think you're correct, there is a lot of industrial pollution here, however the majority of it is in the jungle areas. Not all types of industrial pollution is a problem for me. In Serbia we have all kinds of factories, including chemical. But it was not until some foreign cement companies s...

Re: Non-native English teacher in Peru

Pay for a teacher here in Los Organos in a public school is less than $50 USD a month. Peru is probably a lot like Serbia - cities mostly dirty and small crime abounds. Small towns far from cities are better and cheaper but no jobs. $50 is really too little. In Serbia the average teacher salary is ...

Re: Low-cost air tickets?

Gerard, I looked at the KLM's website and couldn't find any flights from Amsterdam to Lima for about £600. Could you please take a look at that email again - what is the exact date for the offer?

Re: Low-cost air tickets?

The cheapest option is Comet Air. They have single way tickets starting from EUR 93, Mad-Lim, but have a surcharge of taxes and fuel, which make a return ticket EUR 500. From Belgrade to Madrid, I don't know, but there are multiple low cost carriers in Europe.. I think we fly them next July, making...

Re: Low-cost air tickets?

Thanks folks.

I also hope I will be able to find some cheaper option (i.e. special offer) from an European city, but I didn't know if it was actually available. A friend of mine told me airberlin.com have 600 EUR tickets from Germany to Cuba, so it does make sense that similar deals exist for Peru.

Re: Non-native English teacher in Peru

I think the question should be "WOuld you really WANT to teach in a State school?" Pay is very very very low. Teaching license. YOu're from the US, right? Go to the Dept of Ed in the State you're living in. They should have info about it. Usually need a BA in Ed and two years in a school....

Low-cost air tickets?

The cheapest air tickets from most European cities to Lima, Peru cost at least $2800.

Does anyone know of any cheaper option? Specifically I would like to travel from Belgrade, Serbia to Lima, Peru.

Any help is appreciated.

Re: Non-native English teacher in Peru

Yes, you could get a job. HOnestly, the cert wouldn't help with getting a job, it will help you in the classroom. I've been here 5.5 years, no one has ever asked to see my cert. Not sure about Lima being clean. It's filthy. EWithout a teachign license, you can't work at international schools. yOu '...

Re: Non-native English teacher in Peru

Thank you Kelly and calledtoperu2009! I'm beginning to get a better picture of what an English teacher can expect in Peru. What calledtoperu says about pronunciation is quite correct. I've noticed the same thing in some schools in my country. Luckily, my pronunciation is almost perfect British Engli...

Re: Non-native English teacher in Peru

Thanks Kelly.

I'm not interested in making a lot of money. But obviously I'd like to be able to eat, pay the rent etc.

How much can an English teacher earn in Peru (approximately), and what is the cost of living?

Non-native English teacher in Peru

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum. I've decided to make some much needed changes in my life, and, among other things, this includes moving to another country. I've read a lot about Peru and it seems like a very nice place. Also, some of my friends who visited Lima agree it is a beautiful countr...
