Re: LGBT Expats, and friends and allies

Hey all, I've just found out the private message I sent didn't actually send. Sorry to anyone who was waiting for info, I thought everything had been sent, and was wondering why no one had replied so far, oh well. As we were supposed to meet today, I think it's fair to say that it's now a bit short-...

Re: LGBT Expats, and friends and allies

Hi all,

Just a quick reminder that this Sunday (26 Feb) is open for anyone wanting to get together for a catch up at my place in the afternoon/evening. PM me for any details. So far it's been a pretty quiet response, so feel free to get in touch and get the details.

Stranger.

Re: LGBT Expats, and friends and allies

Sunday will be fine, I can have a few people around anytime in the afternoon. What times work for people on a Sunday? I'll have to work on Monday, so I'd rather it didn't start too late, so maybe mid-adrernoon, around 3 or 4pm? I am flexible thuugh, so let me know if anyone has any other preferences...

Re: LGBT Expats, and friends and allies

Hi all, just saw this, but I would like to catch up and see how everyone's going. I would prefer the Saturday, but the Sunday is entirely fine too as I know some people have work commitments on Saturdays. I can't really host a meal, but if there's only a few of us, I could host some drinks and we co...

Re: Peru and the Falkland / Malvina Islands

Any Latino I have spoken to, here in Peru or in Europe, seems to be a tad confused over the Islanders themselves. They are suprised when that discover that, they, the locals, don't speak Spanish. They prefer fish and chips to ceviche, ketchup to ají and Coronation Street to ANY telenovella. They ar...

Re: Anyone enrolled in Peruano Britanico?

Well done on getting in, a lot of those types of schools are over-subscribed, I think - which you already discovered.

Your best bet is to probably ask the school directly, they can probably point you in the right direction, that or show up in the first few days and ask around the other parents.

Re: Anyone leaving the Country who has a maid/nanny

If you live in an apartment block, it's usually a fairly safe bet to also ask your doormen if they know someone. That has worked for me quite well in the past, but I've never looked for a live-in.

Good luck.

Re: English Teachers?

Hi Dave, as you already have your PGCE, you're fine wihout any TEFL certification if you want to work in an international school here - most bilingual secondary schools here don't even have a specific TEFL course in the school, as most students have at least some English as they come up, so the prog...

Re: LGBT Expats, and friends and allies

I'm not in Lima the last Saturday or Sunday of the month, but the last Friday or any time beforehand are fine at this stage. Perhaps a restaurant would be fun, as per the suggestion of americorps?

Re: LGBT Expats, and friends and allies

Hi all, as I've missed the last... who knows how many, I'd really like to make the next one. Unfortunately, if you've not guessed, my weekends fill up pretty quickly. Luckily at this point I don't have any weekend plans though until the end of January, so am free any other time this month. I would a...

Polaron, sorry I couldn't make it afterall, I'm sure I missed a good afternoon.

Gentlemen, apologies for not being there to sit and not say much again! Hopefully next time won't be on a long weekend, so I should have more free time.

Re: LGBT Expats, and friends and allies

Hi all,

I've been quiet as I didn't now if I'd be in Lima or not. I just made it back into town. I should be free for tomorrow, but I have a birthday thing first, so if I can make it, I may be a touch late. I'll let you know anyway, and if I can't make it, well, have fun!

Re: LGBT Expats, and friends and allies

Hey, I should be able to make that. Some uncertainty in case I'm still on holidays, but at this stage it looks like I'll be back in the city by then. I'll bring two bottles of wine, a red and a white, I don't think anyone's mentioned those yet? I'll be going in from Miraflores, so if anyone would li...

Re: Australians in Lima

Hi guys, I should be fine to meet up, but yeah, with the dry weekend because of the election, will we the pub even be open? In other news, interesting result with the AFL, I'm looking forward to the re-play. But more importantly for those of us who grew up in League territory, Dragons and Roosters t...

Re: Australians in Lima

Thanks for the advice, Kelly, much appreciated I'm sure! We could always pick a random street corner and then go from there? I live in Miraflores, but more than willing to meet up anywhere more convenient for people. ozziej, possibly the best bet for the grand final is The Corner? It's a US sports b...

Re: Australians in Lima

Hey guys, I'd be happy to have a meet up. I work through the week, but can generally find a few free hours most evenings and weekends. I think the idea of making a specific time and place and then seeing who's available is a good idea. Saying that, I'm pretty rubbish at organising things, but here's...

Re: BEST INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL IN LIMA

Hi, I've taught in the Australian (NSW) system and the IB system for several years. Whereabouts in Australia are you from? Your best bet is to definitely find an IB school that suits your needs. There are some similarities, and your kids shouldn't have a problem adjusting to the new format, there's ...
