We all went to the center of lima yesterday and some dude comeup and starts talking to me. He says something about how he talks to all foreignors to practise his English and he asks me how his is. Then the people he is with (I assumed his parents) start taking pictures of me and their son together ...

Re: what do you miss from your home country?

This topic comes up from time to time... A few of the following items can be found here, but I either have to hunt for them, travel to Miraflores or pay an arm and a leg. Also, there are some very good exchanges, for example, if I had to decide between kilbasa and aji de gallina, aji de gallina wou...

My guests have also liked Museo Larco in Pueblo Libre, and a walk around Magdalena del Mar market to see all the cool fruits and vegetables. Plaza de Armas and then catacombs like everyone suggested.

I also live in San Miguel and have noticed the increased noise. Sometimes it feels like it's shaking the whole apartment building. There are a few banners hanging up that have a picture of a kid who is covering his ears with his hands and an airplane flying overhead. It says something about putting ...

Re: Peruvians denied entry to US for arrest?

I am very sorry if I came off as rude. I didn't mean to be. I just had to deal with the immigration system for a few years and at the immigration forum where I was a member, I read a lot of terrible stories. I didn't want that to happen to your friend.

Re: Peruvians denied entry to US for arrest?

I think it depends on how serious a charge it was. But my guess is that the immigration officer wouldn't see the charge at the border (since the charges were dropped). They would know about it if she applied for a greencard though. But if he is going to the US to live, and his wife tries to enter on...

You can get boxes of Yellow Label Lipton black tea at Metro or Wong. I buy mine in the San Miguel branches, but I am sure they would have it other locations too.

Re: Peruvians denied entry to US for arrest?

I am not an expert, but there are two things that strike me from your post. 1. If you are married, and your wife enters the US on a tourist visa, and the immigration official finds this out, she may be denied entry for trying to migrate on a non-immigrant visa. The officer would then cancel her visa...

I agree, visajourney.com is place to go for free help on how to file the paperwork to get your girlfriend and her child status as permanent residents. You will eventually have to be married. You can either marry in Peru and then file the paperwork as a married couple, or apply for a fiance visa and ...

Yes, we lost! We ended up going to the stadium, and it was a very relaxed crowd. No riot police or horseback like at the Jaguares vs. Alianza in la Victoria last month.

HI,
Does anyone know a good place to watch a soccer match tonight between San Martin de Porres and San Luis (Mexico)? We were thinking of going to the stadium, but might opt for a bar.

thanks!

I have found that using xoom.com is the most economical option for sending money. It's about a 1% charge if you send the money directly from your bank account at home. So, if you send 1,500, the charge is $15. I think the maximum you can send depends on each person (and their history with Xoom) but ...
