Well just to report I am now at Madrid airport at the boarding gate waiting to board my flight to Lima, & I never was asked when I checked in why I only had a oneway ticket nor was I told I needed a return ticket! Good suitcase diversion tactic! I've been caught out by the one-way ticket thing ...

Reminds me when I booked a one way ticket Madrid-Lima with Air Comet and they did not let me board in Madrid. I heard that the airline companies can be the one responsible for getting you back to Europe for example if they will not let you in at the immigration board. And that the airline company can get a fine from the airport/immigration, a fee to pay for letting you in to the country with one-way ticket...
