Ordering books from Amazon.

Hello, forum.

Does Amazon send books to Peru if ordered online? Alternatively, is anyone coming down from the States that could bring a book for me?

Regards,

Jr.

Re: Canadian visa and buying US dollars

My American visa is actually a seaman's visa that allows me to work on cruise ships. I hope my travel history really helps me. I have no intentions of staying in canada illegally but of course they won't just take my word for it.

Canadian visa and buying US dollars

Hello everyone. How difficult is it for a Peruvian to get a Canadian tourist visa? Would it be as hard as getting an American one? I'm planning a visit to Toronto this year and while I have the financial means to do so, I don't have any property or children to come back to. I do have a job and my em...

Circumstances do not justify or give the rights to anybody to break the law, no matter how many excuses or situations the person was exposed to. While half a million Peruvians work without any permit in the United States, they had to cheat, lie and take the please of the honest people that could ha...

Re: Working without a Work Visa in Lima

As kelly has already stated, it is illegal but lots of people do it. I also know a lot of people that teach English on tourist visas or do other kind of work on tourist visas and it's just not fair as it takes away employment from Peruvian citizens. You may think I have a chip on my shoulder and per...

Re: Ordering Items From US Retailers, Amazon, Etc.

A friend from the US sent me a book and it was held at customs for some reason. I got a notice in the mail saying I could have a courier get it from Serpost and deliver it to my door for 25 soles or I could go into the office to get it myself. As expected, there was a lot of red-tape and ping-pongin...

I would recommend applying around 4 weeks in advance or so as it can take a few weeks for your application to get processed plus you have to get your passport back from NY and that takes a few business days.

Re: Does the 'gringo' price really exist?

I have seen Peruvians walk when the fare is 2.5 and the driver says 3. But 0.5 means something to them. Not to criticize, but 3 is $1. I take many taxis so that adds up quickly. And by having us gringos, who hate to bicker over a couple of soles, accept 3 soles too high only just encourages the tax...

Yes, normally you ask the cobrador if it's okay to pay 50 cents before you get on the bus, but if it's just a 6-block ride and other people are just paying 50 cetns to travel the same distance, then there's no logical explanation as to why Americorps was being charged the full fare.
