Re: Our Experience of getting mugged at home

Wow, scary stuff. My husband (Peruvian) and I and our two young children lived nine months this year in Surco and never had a problem (I thought I would post something encouraging.) One another note my husband's brother lives in military housing also near the pentagon with security, cameras and all ...

We have found that most small electronics do not need a converter at all. If the appliance says on the tag 110-240 then you are OK to just plug it in. Otherwise we have been using a very ancient one that belongs to my brother in law here and it works fine so I would imagine that it is not important ...

A place to play indoors in Lima? /Children's CD

I want to take my kids out today but I have no idea where we can find a fun place to play indoors here in Lima, any suggestions? The only thing I know, which I don't consider too fun, is Jockey Plaza. Please, if you have any ideas I would love to have them. (PS the kids are 1 and 3) Also, side quest...

My husbah and, I and our two young children had this question a few months and here is what we did, not the most exciting trip but it worked. We took an overnight cama bus to Arequipa, stayed two days and then a bus to Tacna. Once there we had someone meet us in the bus terminal, checked into a dece...

Thank you all for your advice. I am still a bit hesitant about the vaccinations but I will consider it some more. Does anyone know where these free vaccinations are given and if they are trust worthy? One of the problems with vaccinations in the USA is that they used to use an agent called Thirmasol...

How many DVD's can I enter the country with?

I know I read somewhere that you can bring in a certain number of DVD's through the airport customs, does anyone know how many? We asked some friends from the States to donate DVD's for the people here and have a few vistors coming who will bring them but don't want them to get hassled, anyone have ...

Seeking a place to get away to clear up bronchitis

My family and I have been here six months and overall we do love it here with one exception, continuous colds. Every month we are plagued with coughing, congesting and a whole sort of other things. My question is, is there a place anyone would recomend to get a way for a few days? A place with out p...

Hotels Arequipa

We leave Thursday for Arequipa and have yet to look into a place to stay, anyone have any family friendly places to stay? We do not want to spend a lot but are looking for something clean and secure, a pool would be nice too. Thanks.

Tumbes crossing

Thanks Trevor, we have looked a bit into the Tumbes crossing but were leaning toward the Tacna border as I have heard nothing but horror stories of the Ecuador border. My biggest concern will be taking the two young ones along and I hear the border at Tumbes is very complicated, although someone did...

Advice for Tacna border-hop

I have been doing some research on a trip my family and I need to make the weekend of the 26th of Feb. in order to obtain new visas. I do not know much about this process and would really appreciate any tips someone might have who has done this before. Here a few of my questions: We are a family of ...
