Bringing a Nanny into Peru

Postby Aggie99 » Thu Oct 28, 2010 6:19 am

Is it possible to bring a Nanny to Peru?

We have a nanny from the Phillipines that has been with our family for several years. We are moving to Peru in January 2011 and would like to, if possible, bring her with us to Peru.

Has anyone done this before? Any advise.

Get one of those nannies that can fly with their umbrella. Have them cross the border low, under the radar.

Aggie99,

First of all, what is going to be your migration status? Are you in bussiness, missions, tourist?
That will decide which way you have to take.

Aggie99,

Based on your migration status, jchambilla will be able to tell you whether or not you will be able to set up a work contract for the nanny with you as the employer and get her a work visa that way. If this is something that you immediately know is not going to apply to you, as it may well be, no, it's not going to happen, sorry.

Another option, in case your nanny doesn't qualify for a working visa, is to have here hop the border every 180 days. However, officially she isn't allowed to receive a salary and you're at the mercy of the customs officer to grant her 180 days each time she enters the country.

I will be on a working visa from my employer for a couple of years. Not sure what kind of visa this will be.

You could try if your employer could arrange a contract for your nanny as well.
