Ho woften do I need to update m carnet and what are the fees? I think its either once or twice a year...???

I think what you're talking about is paying the annual TASA and Prorroga - You can find information on those here:

Sorry to "hijack" the thread. But I have a carne question as well.

I have to get my prorroga in January; at the same time I will of course pay my tasa. I don't know why, but the 4 spaces for the tasa are full now, but below at the prorroga row there is still one empty space and my carne is valid until January 2012.

So when I extend my carne and pay my tasa for 2011, they only can put the prorroga sticker on, but not the one for the tasa. What do I have to do in January? Just the normal F007 prorroga and tasa. Or do I have to apply for a new carne and then the normal procedure? Or together? By the way I have to change my address as well. Does anyone know how it works?

You must get a 'duplicado' and I think if at the same time you pay the Tasa, then they don't put the Tasa sticker on it , but merely a year printed on it when you should get the new Tasa sticker, in that case 2012.
If you got a new passport, then also it is wise to update first your passport info in the Migraciones database, ( another tramite ), so when you get your Duplicado, the passport info is also updated.
