What's up with all these airplanes?

Postby Kelly » Sat Nov 20, 2010 1:07 pm

Anyone know why there's been so much air traffic over Lima this week? My kid said he saw something that looked like a stealth bomber (???) flying over - is there some sort of training going on?

There's been so much noise, my crazy plane chasing dog has even gotten tired of it.

Yup, for days jet fighters are going over Miraflores. Today there were 4 of them at the same time. Either the airforce is test-flying planes before purchasing them or we're at war with Chile.

My Guess is that the goverment finally bought some fuel for the ones they have , so the guys are taking advantage and playing around. (training)

Perhaps not even far from the truth. Some years ago me and my wife's uncle (who was in the navy) visited Callao. All personnel of vessels told me the same: out of port very few times, because of fuel shortage.

Here(Pucallpa) we have jet fighters and a fleet of helicopters making many many flights a day. Counter-narcotics operations are well funded.

Well aware of that, and it keeps a lot of Peruvians employed. Personally think there are better ways to deal with the issue.

The planes are participating in the Las Palmas 2010 Aviation Festival. Admission is free at the Las Palmas Air Base in Surco.

Thanks for the info, Gary.

Wish I'd known about it sooner, would have been fun to go with the kid.

ha. according to my bf, who is in the navy, the air force gets money for fuel and they steal it, therefore never flying the planes.

ive been seeing and hearing the planes for the last few days - pretty cool! have fun if you go to the show :)

THE PRESENCE OF FIGHTER PLANES CAN BE EXPLAINED...THE GOVERMENT DECLARED THE WAR AGAINST ALL EXPATS WHO ARE OVERSTAYING THEIR TOURIST VISA OR WORKING WITHOUT A WORK VISA.
THE ARE LOOKING FOR THEM BY AIR AND WILL SHOOT THEM WITHOUT WARNING.

IF YOUR TOURIST VISA IS EXPIRED...YOU CAN RUN BUT YOU CAN´T HIDE
