I saw it twice and showed it to some family members. They all liked it.. !

I liked a lot the short scene where the dog (perro peruano sin pelo - peruvian hairless dog) is jumping to see the statue. And also liked the Nazca lines drawned by the tractor..

Great work, thanks for the link..

Peru, NE is a bit over 2 hours north of where I was born and very much like the town I am from. It was emotional for me to watch as I am not somewhere between the 2 cultures.

I was in fact born in a town halfway between Peru KS and Peru NE.

One of the things that I think probably did not happen, which has happened to me here..is after the cuy race, we eat the cuy. I do not think they would have eaten the cuy with as much gusto in Peru, NE.

They are working on subtitles for the video, I will post it when it is ready.

Cheers

The translation is great..

In some part the guy says "alquien quiere repeticua?" it is slang, the phrase is "alguien quiere repetir?"

This is marciano de lucuma -> http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=151558969113

and is it Popsicle ?

I think the video is excellent, but what an embarrassment when an individual can come up with a subtitled version quicker than the production company. The two versions should have been released in conjunction with each other.
That aside, congratulations to all involved.

Brilliant!

One side of my family originates in Nebraska (grandfather was a proud Cornhusker alum, and Lincoln's where he met grandmother), and I move to Peru in July, so this couldn't be much more perfect for me. I will have to show my mom this on Mothers Day.

1. The video was never intended for an English speaking market, but for Peruvians to roll out the Peruvian brand

2. They are a government organization and must used government certified translators in a bidded contract process

3. The fact that it went viral at all, let alone so fast was unexpected

I think the ministry of tourism would love the cultural exchange, in fact I just asked my friend at Prom Peru and he asked his manager and she said she might try to create a partnership, she has to check Pruvian town names.

and, because I have not posted enough videos here.

Here is a socumentary on the making of the video.

They did not say they have the right to eat good food, they said they have the right to eat peruvian food.

I do not see a problem suggesting they have the right to eat Buenos Aries food...

The video did nothing to disparage the USA options so the suggestions that they said good food (as opposed to bad) was never part of the message

"Uds son de Peru (Nebraska obviously since that's where they are)! Tienen derecho comer rico." As they roll out their food. I only wondering how Peru would react to the same exact wording but with food from a foreign country.

I for one - and undoubtedly most of my neighbors - would be absolutely thrilled if someone pulled up in front of my house and started passing out Argentinian porterhouses hot off the grill. :D

Of course, this being Peru, the neighbors would all run back in their houses to bring out papas a la huancaina, aji huacatay and Inca Kola to accompany the beef. ;)

sbaustin is asking a good question that needs answering. Maybe it's that the French and Argentinians already know how great their country is and we know they know it - to the point of them having a certain reputation! We know Peruvians don't behave like this and that's why its a delight to watch. Isn't that it?

I was actually implying that Peruvians from Peru know how great their country is not the other way around.

This video made me cry. It makes me so proud to be Peruvian. Those poor people
in Nebraska must have been completely surprised to taste delicious Peruvian food.
It was probably the first time in their lives they had such tasty dishes. What can compare
with Polla a la brasa or Cebiche? :D

It is a shame the video is only 15 minutes long. According to a news article in semanaeconomica.com
they spent only 300,000 dollars on the production. It really wasn't enough. I would have liked to see
at least 30 minutes or a hour long presentation.

The original article (in spanish) is at:

I love ceviche, but Pollo a la brasa? What's the big deal? It's not bad, but really it's just rotisserie chicken with some aji on the side. It's the Peruvian equivalent of a hamburger. Ok if you're hungry, but nothing special. For a really fabulous chicken dish you need to go to Oaxaca and get some Mole Negro.

1. The video was by Peruvians for Peruvians to release the new Peruvian brand, not a documentary on culutral exchange.

2. The overall flavor of the video was clear, to introduce Peruvian culture to Peruvians who did not know peru, not a exchange

3. The background video highlights some of the joy the Peruvians involved in making the video received in exchanging culture.

If the video were a documentary on what the two cultures had to offer each other, I might be in agreement, but it was not.

It is, to me, like asking why Gone with the Wind did not do more to adress socio political issues of the South during the time...it was not what the movie was about.

Very very true.

I also like Mole, all types, even the ultra spicy red Mole. But I don't put down other people's choices. Nothing good or constructive to say, then don't say it.
