So it's Thanksgiving soon and I am interested to know if anyone is planning on "observing" the day or if you'll just let it pass. Has anyone tried to make any traditional dishes here? I was thinking I might like to try and make a couple traditional dishes for my boyfriend and his mom over the weekend. Any suggestions of what are some Peru-friendly recipes to make? Keep in mind I am in Piura, not in Lima!

Thanks for your help!

A roast turkey is appreciated by everyone - my guys love scalloped potatoes and green bean casserole. Since I don't have access to cream of mushroom soup, I make a white sauce for the casserole, used a bread crumb topping instead of onion rings.

You can make a sweet potato casserole from camote, just boil it first then mash it, mix it with some sugar and pineapple. I drizzled a bit of chancaca syrup over it for a slightly "Peruvian" taste.
