CNG and Propane

Postby Roger in the US » Wed Aug 07, 2013 8:37 am

Is anybody familiar with the pricing of cng for autos in Lima? I see the signs for about 1.55 on the signs but what does this mean exactly? I am assuming this is in soles since the gasoline prices are quoted in soles.

In the states cng is about a $1.50 for an equivalent amount of energy of a gallon of gasoline.

Also, from I can determine at the pumps in Lima, a liter of propane is around 1.50 soles?? That does not make sense to me. Propane is not cheap.

the prices you see at the pump are per liter of glp/gnv. so take your 1.55 soles and multiply by 3.8 and that will tell you how much it is per gallon. (roughly $2.18 per gallon)
every place has it's own spirit. you just need to tune into it.

Yes, the price is per liter and the "symbol" for soles = S/.

So a liter of Propane and CNG is about the same S/. 1.57

CNG comes from Camisea (in the jungle) though a long distance pipeline. Until 2012 the liter of CNG was even cheaper about 0.9 to 1.15 , but the promotional price of CNG is over and actually CNG and propane cost almost the same..

You can identify CNG as its initials in spanish GNV - Gas Natural Vehicular..
