Cusco to Ollantaytambo

Postby valpuri » Mon Oct 21, 2013 10:27 am

Hey everyone, we want to get from the cusco airport to Ollantaytambo in the afternoon (leaving airport about 3:30), and we have two little kids. What would be the most convenient way? Any recommendations?

We asked our hotel in Ollantaytambo to pick us up which they were happy to do - it cost more than trying to grab something from Cusco but the guy was waiting for us when we landed and knew exactly where he was going. I think it costs us $50 for and we had a minibus as there were 7 plus luggage. When we compared prices for the return trip using the vans from by the train station is was about S/.10 per person so we probably paid double the price, but it was safe and hassle free.

We used Hotel El Sauce and it was the owner himself who came for us.

The bus company Cruz del Sur just started a service between Cusco and Ollantaytambo. You would have to get from the Cusco airport to the bus station but that shouldn't be too complicated. It looks like it is $11 USD each way and they have 3 round trip times during the day. If you want to check the schedule, it is on their website:

Ask around at the airport and take a taxi. I think we paid 80soles last year. Even if its a bit more you can't beat the convenience.
