We are building a house in the Sacred Valley, and this question is about the fresh water system: We want to have a filter, so we can actually drink the water from the special filtered water tap.
The water comes from a glacier about 10km up the small side valley. It is getting clorinated, because the law says it should be.
I cannot find out what filter to buy.
After reading the information on (mainly) US-American websites where the recommendation is "a filter with 1 micron or less", I fail to find a filter with such specifications here in Cuzco.
I found a filter like Rotoplas PBT-01 (http://www.rotoplas.com.pe/nuestros-pro ... dor-debajo
). The marketing says you can drink the water and use it for your baby. But the only "hard fact" mentioned is that it is complying to the Mexican norm NOM-244-SSA1-2008 (http://dof.gob.mx/nota_detalle_popup.php?codigo=5108229
Unfortunately I cannot figure out, if this norm protects consuments from giardia etc.
Maybe somebody has good hints? Or knows of a reliable brand of filters available in Peru (preferrably in Cusco
PS: I also read the postings here in the forum in the two topics viewtopic.php?t=7505
but they are mainly about Lima - and also some years old ...
