Buffet to Sample Peruvian Foods

Postby edgeclinger » Sun Jan 17, 2016 9:13 am

Anyone have suggestions for the best place(s) to take a first time visitor to Peru (Lima) to sample typical Peruvian foods? We used to take visitors to Mangos at Larco Mar. There was a great variety of things to try and the view was fabulous. It's been ages and I'm wondering if that's still a good choice or if there are better places for buffets.

You might try Bistecca. Their buffet I've found to be the best

San Antonio has a good traditional Peruvian buffet.

Rustica in the beach of Barranco, although the last time we went it was a bit of a bummer, they seem to have had some problems with Sunat, and you could tell the difference in quality with earlier visits.

Señorio de Sulco in the end of Pardo on the Malecon is very good

And Mangos in Larcomar has a very nice presentation of the food, and lots of nice postres. The views over the Pacific are astonishing specially for a first time visitor.

Costa Verde on the beach in Barranco has a very good buffet of most typical Peruvian dishes. It's very expensive, but the atmosphere is great for tourists. Service isn't bad.

For criollo food try the Rustica, I like the one on the costa verde, nice sea views.
