my wife and I have 2 small kids (boy and girl, 2.5 years, and 7 months). We live in Miraflores, and have done for years, with a brief break where we lived in Bolivia (wife is Bolivian).
We love our apartment in Miraflores (We're in front of the ocean); but it's a but noisy for the kids, and the truth is the parks are beautiful; but full of people, and we're kind of yearning for a garden.
We can find some smaller houses around Miraflores, and keep our European style life here (we walk/cycle everywhere, which we love); but that would be quite expensive.
We were tempted to go to La Molina, as we can get condos there at the same price as our flat here; but after a brief look, we concluded that the place is awful: crawling with traffic like ants, polluted, and over-crowded. Even in one of the more peaceful areas, there's no escaping all the traffic and pollution.
So, we're now wondering if we should just call it a day with Lima all together, and try to seek a more relaxed, smaller town. We're really not sure where we could go though. We're quite boring, and just focus our time on our family, so our requirements aren't that extreme:
3. Ideally, with nice houses in condominios, or secure communities,
4. Good Nidos,
5. Fast internet (that's really important for my work),
6. Not too much pollution
Nice to have would be beach/tennis courts/swimming pools.
Anyone have any idea, if such a place exists, or do we already have it as good as we'll get it in Peru, in Miraflores and San Isidro?
Some people told me Arequipa; but it just seems like a step back for us (we lived in Sucre Bolivia for 2 years), so we've not been very motivated by that. Our view is that if were were to move, we may as well see if we can at least be by a nice beach (though certainly for a few hundred kms around Lima, nice beaches don't seem to exist - unless, one of you hopefully proves me wrong).
