Having read the info in the link provided...I think this is just a storm in a tea cup!! When most market scales in Peru are not subject to a "weight & measures" standard & approved testing, who will know/notice? No bugger!!

What do you base "When most market scales in Peru are not subject to a "weight & measures" standard & approved testing" on? You conducted tests?

They better be subject to a "weight & measures" standard.
Who wants to get ripped off buying a kilo of coke?

This new way of measuring is intended for the scientific & pharmaceutical communities where extremely precise measurements are necessary.
This is not meant to replace the mechanical scales of merchants who sometimes use a strategically placed thumb or other methods to manipulate the actual weight.
