Movistar cell service - need to change providers - seeking recommendations

Hi everyone,
I am Peruvian and travel to Peru a few times a from the U.S. where I live. I have had a prepaid Movistar line for literally years. When outside peru, I have kept it active by adding a few soles to it now and then. Due to a technical glitch which Movistar admits was their responsibility, I have now lost my Movistar number. It took me four hours (you read that right) texting back and forth with customer service on WhatsApp to learn the truth of the matter. Movistar suggests that when I am in Lima again, I stop by one of their offices to get a new 'linea.'
Not wanting to give any more of my time or money to Movistar (aka Robistar), I am looking for advice on who you recommend as a cell provider. I prefer a provider that allows me to switch between postpaid and prepaid plans.
If it makes a difference in your recommendations, I should make sure you know I mainly spend time in Lima but occasionally travel to other areas of Peru for a week or so at a time.
Thanks for any and all recommendations!
