Who to contact re assault?

Postby MJoyLaufer » Tue Dec 17, 2019 4:14 pm

Dear Expat Peru community,

I have a friend who was recently sexually assaulted right outside her own apartment by a tenant of the same building here in Lima. She did a denuncia against him, but what else can she do? Are there lawyers who deal with this type of issue? She is a US citizen and the aggressor is Peruvian. Please send me recommendations.

Best,
M

IMO, a denuncia is not going to deter this sick sexual attacker.
At times, force needs to be dealt with force!
Best wishes for the female victim; she is welcome to visit us in Huaral & stay for FREE at the cottage.
Possibly a break from Lima would be a good option for healing.
Send me a PM if I can help in any way - please.

What was the nature of this "sexual assault", could help in finding a lawyer to take it on.

IMO, the "nature of the sexual assault" is not important.
This man stole her privacy & violated her right to consent.
Any more details would only serve titillating purposes.

A simple question for clarification to see if a lawyer would take the case. She may be from a country that considers whistling or a simple compliment as sexual harassment which would not fly in a country such as Peru. I am just wanting to know her definition of "sexual harassment".
Unless you know the facts, you should wait to comment when you do.
