Enabling Act?

Postby craig » Thu Aug 09, 2012 2:12 am

Congreso debate hoy pedido del Ejecutivo para delegación de facultades
Today Congress debates the delegation of powers requested by the executive.

The whole Congress of the Republic will meet this morning and debate the law project that proposes to delegate to the Executive Power the authority to legislate in the area of strengthening and institutional reform of the sectors of Interior and Defence, for a period of 90 days.

This scary proposal sounds a lot like Hitler's enabling act.

It is error alone which needs the support of government. Truth can stand by itself. -- Thomas Jefferson

...that or a Latin American Thursday morning. Peruvian presidents shoot protesters in the face regularly as it is, this law will make it easier to choose how and where they are shoot in the face. As always, as far as Lima is concerned, nothing to see here.
