Nueva Lima

This metropolis that is meant to take the burden of housing prices and traffic/pollution from the already overcongested Lima is being built near the beaches of Asia. I have read from other sources however that it is a bit of a swizz, it would be nice to see more cities spout up by the coastline and especially new cities with affordable housing. What are your views on this? They say it might be ready in 15-20 years time?

There are videos on YouTube about Nueva Lima if you care to look. :D

That's really interesting. 120 km from Lima is a bit of a drive though, especially given the congestion entering Lima. That said, a bit of decentralization will be good, and maybe 120 won't seem so far as Lima continues to expand to the south. Lot's of new industrial parks are going in.

You need to love the "referential" image shown at the top of the web page though.. looks like the plane is going straight into the building.

It looks like it is going to be a somewhat self-contained city, there's going to be all the amineties of living in the nicer parts of Lima so though it is a bit of a trek from the capital - you might not have to go to Lima all that often. Like you said also, Lima will just expand south so it becomes a big joined up mega-metropolis. Folks online are saying it is a con job, I hope not because this new city is sorely needed.
