Peru as exporter of Ginger - Kion - Jengibre

Postby windsportinperu » Wed Jun 24, 2020 7:19 pm

During 2019, Peru was the 4º exporter of Ginger (named as kion in Peru) in the World .

Conidering that Netherlands is not a real-producer just an import-export hub, Peru is really on the 3º position as producer-exporter, next to Thailand

But, during C.virus, Peru has tripled its exporting capacities !

Demand for products that support the body's immune system has increase substantially. Products in high demand are Camu Camu, Kion, Maca and Chia. Peruvian kion has a higher nutrient count that kion from Asia. Some companies offer it fresh, powdered, as extract, etc.
The prices of the products in high demand have doubled ion some cases. Some producers are sitting on their stock, waiting for prices to increase further.
Most peruvian agri products do well. The continuous efforts of PromPeru "Superfoods from Peru!" promotions have paid off. It is the only sector i n Peru that is expected to do well this year.

Thanks for the info.
Where can you purchase these products?
My wife uses a lot of fresh ginger when she cooks.
Stay safe.

Interesting. I didn't know Peru was such a large exporter. I've noticed the price has increased a bit though.

I'd pick the kion (ginger) up at the market though.
