ADVICE NEEDED- BUS FROM LIMA TO AREQUIPA

We have some friends that are interested in taking a bus from Lima to Arequipa. Having not done this yet, we wanted to defer to you guys for suggestions. What are some good bus lines to look into? What are good prices? What should they expect time wise?

The best bus to Arequipa is IMO Cruz del sur. Take the night bus down,about 8 hrs +- sleep on the bus.

Yes , I have used them many times over the years , and arrived safe. They drive direct, no stops along the way. they have 2 class of service, I recommend the better class (seats on the first floor).

I will second that recommendation. I've also used Cruz del Sur many times and they were hands down the best compared to any other bus line I used. If you search this forum a little, there have been many similar threads for bus recommendations, and you'll see that Cruz del Sur is always the most recommended - along with Oltursa. I wouldn't use any other line. I even wrote an article about it - Bus Travel in Peru

i have used Cruz del Sur a few times as well ,
tip of the day is don't sit at or near the back of bus
as when it goes round sharp bends you will feel sick as a parrot
or at least i did

I not sure where that price came from but a RT on www.Peruvianairlines.pe you can get for under $ 100.00
