183 Day Visa - Exit and Re-entry

Postby adrianm91 » Sun Oct 26, 2008 6:43 pm

Has anyone left and re-entered Peru recently that had the 183 day Visa prior to leaving.
If so was there any hassle on re-entry and how many days did you manage to get on your new tourist Visa?

We are about halfway through our existing 183 day tourist visa, which we got on our last border hop to Arica, we need to leave Peru for a few days but are concerned that we can get back in OK.

Thnx for any info.

I just border-hopped to Arica 2 weeks ago. I had 90 before, and they gave me 180 more, but I can't imagine why there'd be any difference between having had 90 or 183 days before. That was my 6th entry into Peru in 2 years, and I don't think they're that picky about total # of days in any given period. Don't worry about it :)

NWAH,

Thanks for the information. We lived in Arica for 3 months, one of the most dusty places on earth. Try Ecuador next for a change.

Cheers, Adrian.

Hay

I came in three months ago. The first visa was 90 days . With three weeks left on that visa i had to go back to the States for an emergency, when i reentered they gave me another 90 . I had to cross to Arica last week with my wife and daughter whose time was up . The then gave all three of us 183 day visas, without us even asking for it.

Dont know if this helps you ?

They are not picky about the 90 183 days when stamping your Visa.

The SUNAT has the job of policing the number of days (more than 183). It is a tax residency issue. They won't hassle for entries and exits. But at some point if SUNAT decides to go after tourist for taxes (who have been in Peru more than 183 days in a calendar year). Then you would have to worry :-).
